Imagine having a single virtual repository filled with thousands of workforce success stories from each state and local Workforce Investment Board (WIB) in the country that is accessible to policy makers and other stakeholders, and clearly demonstrates the return-on-investment (ROI) of the workforce system.
This is the concept of the National Association of Workforce Boards’ (NAWB) Workforce Investment Works Campaign —a storytelling Website to help America understand the services and value propositions of the workforce investment system.
The NAWB represents business-led WIBs across the country that plan and oversee state and local workforce development and job training programs and provide strategic direction around workforce issues and solutions in their communities.
NAWB CEO Ron Painter said, “There’s no doubt that the economy has put workforce issues ‘front and center’ with the news media. However, WIBs are often so busy with their strategic initiatives that they forget to share stories of how their work impacts the lives of so many throughout the country. This is a critical task in demonstrating the impact of workforce investment funding.”
Full Capacity Marketing, Inc. (FCM) has partnered with NAWB on the campaign and designed the national storytelling Website which houses an Intranet that allows success stories to be uploaded to a public site for viewing and sorted by state and workforce customer type. As the repository grows, the site will be searchable by zip codes to allow legislators and stakeholders to drill down into the site and obtain workforce success stories pertinent to their local areas.
The campaign Website is now on a TEST SERVER (not live to the public), and is ready to accept success story submissions from workforce investment system stakeholders. The goal is to obtain at least 1-3 stories from each local and state WIB by December 31, 2010. Your organization may submit unlimited success stories and we encourage you to do so. Start with ones already developed (i.e. annual reports, press releases, newsletter articles).
Here's how you can check out the test site and participate:
- To review the TEST site (not live to the public) go to:
http://www.fcmtest.com/nawb-wiw/index.asp
Please note that the social media links are not currently working; they will be integrated when the site is live. Also, there is red text throughout the site which indicates either placeholder text and/or instructions for workforce professionals. This text will be removed when the site goes live and is fully populated with success stories.
- To submit a story on behalf of your workforce organization, you may click on the link at the bottom of the homepage called Workforce Professionals, or go directly to the Intranet (a dedicated back-end Website just for workforce professionals) at http://www.fcmtest.com/nawb-wiw/intranet/story_submission_form.asp
- You may also download toolkits and resources to assist you with submitting a story, or contact our lead partner, Celina Shands Gradijan at Full Capacity Marketing, Inc. at celina@fullcapacitymarketing.com
